a la verga
Wants You

Want to act? There might be a leading role in an upcoming production for which you would be perfect - or perhaps a non-starring role as an extra.

Have a script or an idea for a movie that you think is great? Please let us know. We're always looking for new ideas and if your idea is used, you'll be involved with the entire project.

Are you a musician? Maybe you have a band or an original song? We are always in need of original music to use in our movies. Drop us a note!

No Experience Needed

We're not looking for people who already know the "rules" of movie making. We're looking to break the rules, and we do that with people who are not expert in the way things "should be done." Your lack of experience is actually a plus.

But please be sure that your primary motivation is not fame and/or fortune. We're looking for people who simply want to make art, regardless of the monetary rewards (or lack thereof).

There are contracts, however, just so that we're prepared in case money does come knocking on our door. All actors must sign release forms. Leading role actors also sign a collaborative contract which guarantees a percentage of gross profits. Collaborators (writers, musicians, directors) also have a collaborative contract stating that any profits will be split equally among all collaborators.

People working with a la verga films basically fit into two categories: Actors and Non-Actors. Actors obviously perform in front of the camera. Non-Actors have many other responsibilities ranging from writing and directing to providing a shooting location to recording original music to going for coffee when needed. Of course any one person might fit into both categories. There is room for everyone at a la verga.

More detail regarding both Actors and Non-Actors can be found below. Again, if you're in love with movies and would like to get involved, please contact us. We want you!

Actors

A one-minute screen test is required for all potential actors.

a la verga films does issue casting calls when a feature length production is being planned. If you come to a casting call, you'll need to have something prepared for your one minute in front of the camera.

a la verga also accepts auditions without a formal casting call. Again, you would simply need to have something to do in front of the camera for one minute. These special auditions are arranged on a case by case basis. Just contact us.

Once you have auditioned you'll be waiting for the dreaded "call back." If a la verga films has a part in mind for you, you'll be called to audition a second time.

At a call back audition you would have at least five minutes in front of the camera and a la verga would provide you with either a script or a scene to perform. You might audition alone or in a group.

At the call back, the conversation might get serious about having you perform in an upcoming production or you might leave to await a second call back.

Despite all the specific details outlined above, you should keep in mind that auditions are fun! If you're interested in auditioning for an a la verga production, contact us. You'll be glad you did!

Non-Actors

Non-Actors love movies but have little or no desire to actually be in front of the camera. If you are a non-actor, you probably write, create music, have interesting and different ideas for films and movies or you just want to know what it's like to work in pictures.

Non-Actors fall into two categories: Collaborators and Volunteers. Collaborators provide writing, music, directing and other essential needs to a production and they sign a collaborator contract that promises a share of potential profit derived from the final product. Volunteers also provide essential support, but do so out of love for movie making art. No profit sharing is promised or implied or included.

a la verga accepts music, screenplays and scripts (complete or unfinished) and ideas for movies from anyone, anytime, anywhere. If you have something, please let us know. If you want to send us your entire script via email, go right ahead. We're not formal or fancy and the format of your idea / script / screenplay / music doesn't have to meet any standard. The point is to get your work looked at - and our eyes are open.

This is your opportunity. Put your ideas in front of a la verga and we'll at least provide some feedback - and maybe even a proposal to put your idea on film!
